Hello, my 4 year old daughter
Hannah was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. Two
months ago the doctors found 2 spots on her brain. She
had surgery to remove the spots. She will have her
routine MRI this Thursday, please pray that there are NO
spots and that the tumor NEVER returns. Please God bless
her and heal her always. Please God watch over her.
Amen. P.S. Thank you so much for your prayers for
Hannah. |

Please pray for Austin...1 year
old...brain tumor
Austin's Story: On May 31, 2007 Austin was born
bringing joy and love to his family. He appeared healthy
and strong and "big"! When he was six days old Austin
began a two week stay at Children's Hospital for a heart
condition called Wolf-Parkinson-White (WPW) Syndrome
(extra electrical pathway in the heart). His heart was
stabilized with medication and he was able to go home
again with medication taken three times a day. He needed
to stay on this medication for one year and then he
could go off of it and see if he had outgrown the
problem. It was a scary time but he did well and he
didn't have any more SVT's (supraventricular
tachycardia; abnormally fast heartbeat) so all appeared
to be going well. When Austin was about 8-9 months old
he continued to grow up but not out and began looking
thin. He was having difficulty eating and began vomiting
when he was fed too much. In March, 2008 Austin got the
flu and became dehydrated and had another stay at
Children's Hospital. They did every test under the sun –
sort of. After five days he was sent home, feeling
better and with some color to him. In April he began
having seizures – episodes where he'd stop breathing for
a bit and then he'd come out of it. An EEG
(electroencephalogram: a test that measures and records
the electrical activity of your brain) was done and
showed no abnormalities. Later he had a swallow study
done and was diagnosed with Gastric Reflux. They treated
him for that, thinking that was what the problem was. On
May 28 at his Grandma Judy's funeral he began having
seizures again. He was rushed to Children's Hospital
where they did a CT scan and found a tumor in his brain.
The MRI showed that the tumor is very big and putting a
lot of pressure on his brain plus there is fluid around
the brain putting more pressure on it. The test also
showed that the tumor is inoperable – it cannot be
surgically removed. In 10 days little Austin had three
surgeries starting on his 1st birthday. He now has two
shunts on the top of his head to drain the fluid, has a
feeding tube which pumps food directly into his
intestines, and he has a porta cath in his chest where
he gets his chemotherapy treatments weekly. Between the
shunt placement and the biopsy of the tumor Austin had a
stroke leaving his right side limp. The tumor is called
"Hypothalamic Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma". After a six week
hospital stay Austin is home and his schedule consists
of physical therapy, occupational therapy, chemotherapy,
and speech therapy. We pray that the chemotherapy,
although it makes him ill, will stop and shrink the
tumor enough that he will be able to eat again and stop
having seizures and begin living a more normal life. He
already proved the doctors wrong by beginning to use his
right side more than they ever thought possible. Austin
has a long journey ahead of him but he is a fighter.
Please pray for him, he is my beautiful
blue eyed grandson. |
